The Wachowski Brothers' narrative moves at a nearly blinding pace. Cleary, they have a reverence for the original cartoon. They even provide slick martial arts action, which "Speed Racer" had way back when. Racer X (Fox) powerfully dispatches ninja attackers. And Rain as Taejo displays amazing martial arts grace and style.
워쇼스키 형제는 영화의 스토리를 빛의 속도로 이끌어 간다. 원작만화를 충실히 재현하고자 그들은 심지어 원작에 나왔던 것처럼 멋진 무술 액션까지 집어넣었다. 레이서 X(매튜 폭스)는 닌자들을 솜씨있게 물리치고, 태조 역의 비는 아주 폼나고 세련된 액션 씬을 보여준다.

안티들이 뭘 기대했는지 모르겠지만, 이 영화는 목적한 바를 확실히 달성했다.

그리고 그 목적은 바로 관객을 즐겁게 하는 것이다.
I can't describe how many time i thought 'whoah' it's one of those moments that could happen only in cartoons or 'whoa' that was anime style crazy! This film set out to create a literal live action adaptation of a cheesy retro cartoon anime. That's exactly what it did.
영화를 보는 동안 '우와 저건 만화에서나 볼 수 있는 건데', '와 미쳤어 저거 완전 애니메이션 스타일이잖아', 몇 번이나 이렇게 감탄했는지 모른다. 이 영화는 문자 그대로 뻔한 고전 애니메이션을 실사화하려고 만든 영화이며, 그 시도는 성공했다.

자, 여기 훌륭한 영화 한 편을 소개합니다.

This movie blew past what my expectations would ever be. Having watched random episodes of the original anime, I was very skeptical as to how one could ever pull off making a live-action adaptation. The Wachowski brothers have pulled it off. The only way possible for this movie to be made was this over-the-top, campy romp through the race tracks.
이 영화는 내 기대치를 한껏 뛰어넘었다. 원작 만화의 몇몇 에피소드를 본 입장에서 나는 도대체 이걸 어떻게 실사화한다는 건지 매우 회의적이었다. 근데 워쇼스키 형제는 그걸 해냈다. 이 만화를 실사화하는 길은 오직 이 영화처럼 대놓고 과장된 레이싱 영화를 만드는 길 뿐이었다.

원작 만화에 충실한 걸작!

Man, I was lucky to catch a sneak preview of this movie during my holiday here. (I will repeatedly use the phrase "intended to be campy" on purpose to prove my point of the movie).
아, 휴가 중에 여기서 이 영화 시사회에 참석하게 된 건 정말 행운이었다. (앞으로 이 영화를 지지하는 내 논리의 핵심인 '일부러 과장되게 만든' 영화라는 말을 반복해서 사용하겠다)
The Wachowski brothers deliver once again. The special effects are simply beautiful to the eyes and the action sequences are stylistically cool.
워쇼스키 형제는 이번에도 나를 실망시키지 않았다. 특수효과 덕분에 눈이 즐거웠고 액션 장면들은 일품이었다.
See Emile Hirsch, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci, Matthew Fox and even Korean pop sensation Rain (of all people) ham it up on the big screen. Yes, it's campy, but that is what makes this movie great. It is intended to be campy, just like the whip-smart and fast dialogue of the old anime I grew up with.
에밀 허쉬, 존 굿맨, 수잔 서랜든, 크리스티나 리치, 매튜 폭스, 게다가 한국의 인기가수 비까지, 모든 출연진들이 커다란 화면 속에서 과장된 연기를 보여준다. 하지만 바로 그 때문에 이 영화가 걸작인 것이다. 이 영화의 과장된 스타일은 의도적이기 때문이다. 어릴 때 보며 자랐던 애니메이션 속의 똘똘하고 속사포같은 대사처럼.
 
Do not listen to all the haters. Like Snakes on a Plane, it is intended to be campy. If you just wanna have fun, watch this movie. It is a popcorn film that is a true sight at the cinema. The Wachowski Brothers clearly state that this is aimed for families, so I highly recommend this movie to parents to take their kids out and see this film for a fun time during summer vacation.
안티들의 말은 무시하기 바란다. '스네이크 온 어 플레인'처럼 이 영화는 일부러 과장되게 만든 영화니까. 아무 생각없이 즐기고 싶다면 이 영화를 보라. 영화관에서 봐야 참맛을 알 수 있는 대중 영화다. 워쇼스키 형제가 가족 관객을 노리고 만들었다고 공언한 만큼, 여름 방학에 아이들을 데리고 가서 함께 볼만한 영화로 강추한다.
Oscar worthy? For the special effects and set design, yeah.
오스카상을 받을만 하냐고? 특수효과와 세트디자인 부문에선 확실히 그렇다.

흥미로운 애니메이션 실사판 영화!

Personally I have never been a fan of the original animated series, and I wasn't sure what to expect of this movie. After seeing the trailers I thought it ked kind of cheesy and over-done. After watching this I realized that the cheesy graphics, work to it's own advantage. This movie really caught a good lo,ok at Live action Speed Racer without losing the characteristics of the Cartoon. I didn't think even the Wachowski brothers could pull this off, but as usual, they did.
개인적으로 원작만화의 팬이 아니라서 난 이 영화가 어떤 영화가 될지 짐작이 안 갔다. 예고편을 봤을 땐 좀 유치하고 오버스럽다고 느꼈었는데, 영화를 보고 나니 그 유치한 그래픽에도 다 이유가 있다는 걸 깨달았다. 이 영화는 원작의 특징을 잘 살린 실사판 영화다. 난 심지어 워쇼스키라도 힘들 거라고 생각했는데, 그들은 해냈다.

 "Speed Racer" will probably be one of the summer's top grossing movies, making it a must see.
'스피드 레이서'는 아마도 누구나 꼭 봐야할 올여름 최고 흥행작이 될 듯하다.
I saw "Speed" at the second sold out screening at the Tribeca Film Festival. The advance ticket line stretched down a New York block, the audience clapped and cheered, leaving excited and talkative.
난 이 영화를 매진된 Tribeca 영화제 두번째 상영타임에 봤다. 예매표 줄이 뉴욕 거리에 길게 늘어설 정도였고, 관객들은 영화를 보면서 박수치고 환호했다. 상영후 그들은 들뜬 목소리로 재잘거리며 극장을 나섰다.
Why the buzz? Speed appeals to same preteen group that watched the original cartoon, giving it almost no competition this summer.
왜 이 난리냐고? '스피드 레이서'는 원작 만화를 보고 자란 어린이들에게 어필할 영화이기 때문이다. 따라서 올여름 이 영화에 대적할 영화는 없을 것이다.
A lot of parents bought their children to my screening – the moms and dads there to remember – the kids to see the kaleidoscope of sound and color and to laugh at Spritle and the monkey Chim Chim, whose antics got the chuckles.
극장에는 아이들을 데리고 온 부모들이 많았다. 그들은 만화경같은 화면과 사운드를 즐겼고 스프리틀과 원숭이 침침을 보며 웃었다.
Neither group left disappointed, though serious film-goers will be.
부모와 어린이, 두 부류의 관객 모두 만족한 심정으로 극장을 나섰다. 진지한 영화팬들은 실망했겠지만.
